Thanks to all the knotty girls who have knit pieces of the blanket for Jake!  He’s back in Northeast Ohio, and we’ll be getting ready to deliver the finished blanket to him soon.  I hope you enjoyed hearing Jake with his Chardon Polka Band!

And, last but certainly not least, we are so excited to announce that Brenda Dayne of Cast On is coming to Knots!  We’re still working out the details, but you can go ahead and block off May 18 – 20 on your calendars. We’ll keep you posted about classes as soon as we have all the info!  In the meantime, get caught up on HER podcast here!

Pattern for one panel of Jake’s Blanket:

materials:  1 hank of Plymouth Coffee Beenz (red, navy, or brown) and size 8 needles

(Note: The stitches used in this blanket are designed to allow for slight differences in gauge between several knitters.  If you are an especially tight or loose knitter, please adjust your needle size accordingly.)

Cast on 40 stitches.

First section, row 1: (knit 4, purl 4) repeat to end.

Repeat row 1 39 more times, for a total of 40 rows.

Second section, row 1: knit

row 2: purl

row 3: knit

row 4: purl

row 5: purl

row 6: knit

row 7: purl

row 8: knit

Repeat rows 1-8 four more times, for a total of 40 rows in second section.

Repeat the first and second sections once more.  Fasten off the last stitch, leaving your leftover yarn attached.  Kate will use the remaining yarn for constructing the blanket and perhaps adding an edging.

The Knotty Girls Episode 1
