As mentioned in our second podcast episode, the Knotty Girls and friends are knitting a prayer blanket for our friend Jake. He was in a serious car accident in October, and we wanted to make him a gift as he is recovering. If you can knit a panel or two of this blanket, we would love to have your help! Pick up a skein or two of Coffee Beenz at Knots, and knit away. We would like to have all completed panels back at the shop by 2/14 at the latest.

Pattern for one panel of Jake’s Blanket:

materials: 1 hank of Plymouth Coffee Beenz (red, navy, or brown) and size 8 needles

(Note: The stitches used in this blanket are designed to allow for slight differences in gauge between several knitters. If you are an especially tight or loose knitter, please adjust your needle size accordingly.)

Cast on 40 stitches.

First section, row 1: (knit 4, purl 4) repeat to end.

Repeat row 1 39 more times, for a total of 40 rows.

Second section, row 1: knit

row 2: purl

row 3: knit

row 4: purl

row 5: purl

row 6: knit

row 7: purl

row 8: knit

Repeat rows 1-8 four more times, for a total of 40 rows in second section.

Repeat the first and second sections once more. Fasten off the last stitch, leaving your leftover yarn attached. Kate will use the remaining yarn for constructing the blanket and perhaps adding an edging.

If you are knitting a panel, please leave a comment on this post so we know how many to expect by Valentine’s Day. Thanks!
